Collection: Vintage Lanterns & Camp Stoves
Family camping trips and summers at Camp Fowler formed many of my core memories as a kid. There was always an old Coleman lantern and meals were often cooked on an old Coleman camp stove. As a Boy Scout, backpacking in the Adirondacks or in Shenandoah, I carried a small single-burner stove that kept morale up when we were cold and wet on the side of a mountain. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything. My backpacking days are long over, but my kids love camping at the lake or just in the back yard, and these memories are now part of their story, too. Most evenings, Kate and I sit on the front porch and enjoy a cup of tea together, brewed on a single burner Coleman, with an old lantern glowing nearby. There's just something peaceful about it that brings us back to each other when the world moves too fast.
Each one of these lanterns and stoves has a story. I pass along any background I am able to find out. Every item is cleaned, serviced and often completely rebuilt, but I leave the patina and battle scars because they tell the story. These have performed faithfully through everything from daily chores and camping trips, to seeing families through disasters. They are a part of the American story, and will be a part of your story, too.
